New Paragraph
Please Do Not Park Cars on Street

The Aberdeen ACC has received numerous complaints from homeowners about the on-street parking issue in our neighborhood. We understand that there are times when this is necessary; however, this should be the exception, not the norm. The parking guidelines in the design standards are there not only to maintain the look of our neighborhood, but also for the safety and consideration of our homeowners.

That being said, any cars that are parked on the street should be parked with the direction of traffic flow as stated below in the guidelines. Parking perpendicular to the curb in cul-de-sacs is not permitted. Although not specifically stated in our guidelines, parking on both sides of the street where barely one car can pass, should be avoided. This can impede emergency vehicles as well as cause safety issues for residents as well as drivers going around the parked cars.  (See pictures below.)

Please take a minute to review and refresh yourself with the Garage/Parking section of the Aberdeen ACC guidelines which are available on the Aberdeen website and shown below. If you observe any of the following on a regular basis, please contact the Aberdeen ACC at abaccnew@gmail.com and include photos along with a street address.

Section 2.06 Garage/Parking

A. Homeowners are requested to keep vehicles in their garage and to keep garage doors closed when not in use.

B. A vehicle is defined as: automobile, SUV, van, mini-van, school bus, truck, commercial vehicle, house trailer, mobile home, motor home, recreational vehicle, camper and habitable motor vehicle of any kind, boat or boat trailer, trailers of any kind, ATV of any kind, motorcycle, motor scooter, personal watercraft or like equipment.

1) No vehicle, as defined above, may be parked on any yard.

2) No vehicle as defined above may be parked in the street when it is possible to park in a driveway. Vehicles parked on the street must be parked in the direction of the flow of traffic.

3) In addition, vehicles parked in violation of the O.C.G.A. shall be deemed in violation of the Aberdeen Design Standards, and subject to enforcement and fining as defined in Aberdeen’s governing documents, to include the Covenants, Restrictions and Easements, and the Design Standards as currently approved by the Membership and Board resolution.

C) Automobiles, SUV's, minivans, and pickup trucks one ton or less in size may be parked in the garage, driveway or driveway extension. All other permitted vehicles should be parked in the garage, except that recreational-type vehicles and boats may be parked on a driveway or driveway extension for not more than 48 consecutive hours and only for preparation for or from a trip and/or preparation for off-site storage. A reasonable frequency, as determined by the ACC, is permitted for this activity. 48 hours is considered sufficient time to prepare the vehicle for storage or a trip. The purpose of this guideline is to assure that the above vehicles will not be parked or stored in open view on lots on a regular basis.

D) Commercial vehicles regularly driven by a resident shall be parked in the garage when not in use. “Commercial vehicle” is defined as any vehicle with commercial lettering, signage, or logos painted or placed on a vehicle or deemed by the ACC to be utilized for commercial use.  All passenger vehicles parked in open view and not in a garage must be operable and licensed, may not be in disrepair or significantly damaged, and must be driven on a regular basis. A regular basis is defined to be weekly utilization of the vehicle.  Vehicles may only be covered by a custom designed cover of a neutral color.

E) Occasional overnight guests’ vehicles may be parked in the street if there is insufficient space on the driveway to allow for ingress and egress of vehicles. A reasonable frequency to be determined by the ACC.

1) Residents who have visitors and who wish to leave a vehicle parked at the clubhouse overnight are welcome to do so but must contact the Operating Manager or the Board of Directors prior to doing so, otherwise the vehicle may be towed.
